UTU Awards is an annual inter-collegiate competition conducted by University of Teuku Umar (UTU), Aceh, Indonesia. UTU Awards is a fair competition for undergraduate students to showcase their creative ideas through projects, designs, and products of any disciplinary backgrounds. UTU Awards are great opportunities to get prestige from your ideas, feedback on your strategic plan, and exposure to the right audience. This is also great way to expand your network, acquire your talent, and gain feedback on your ideas.
The awards offer various opportunities for undergraduate students to win in a wide range of categories: Entrepreneurial Research, Business Plan, Innovative Product on Agro- and Marine Industry, and Online Store Design. The main goal is to nurture the entrepreneurship principles into practice and sharpen the 21stcentury’s soft skills, which include analytical and creative thinking and problem-solving, complex communication, leadership and teamwork, digital and quantitative literacy, a global perspective, adaptability, initiative, and risk-taking, as well as integrity and ethical decision-making.
Every year we receive a large number of submissions from various universities. This year we invite teams from across Indonesia and the globe to compete in the 7thUTU Awards. The jury panel is composed of eminent faculty members from respective universities. They were selected by their expertise, experience, and commitment on the development of undergraduate students to hone the skills needed to advance from ideas to venture creations. We welcome submissions from various disciplinary backgrounds and diverse interests. Previous participants are also welcomed to submit their new and original works that have not been submitted to the UTU Awards.
Objectives
Providing opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in a fair competition that puts their ideas into creation ventures through projects, designs, or products.
Nurturing undergraduate students’ entrepreneurship spirit and soft skills, including analytical and creative thinking and problem-solving, complex communication, leadership and teamwork, digital and quantitative literacy, a global perspective, adaptability, initiative, and risk-taking, as well as integrity and ethical decision-making.
Establishing opportunities for undergraduate students to build network, acquire new talent, and gain feedback on their ideas.
Competition Categories
Entrepreneurial Research– It welcomes research projects on entrepreneurship topics, such as (but not limited to) entrepreneurial decision making, role of emotions in business, invention and intellectual property, marketing strategies, finances, social enterprises, managements, employments, digital technologies and new media for business, and other relevant topics.
Business Plan – It welcomes proposals that highlight organized view of a business idea or business expansion. A business plan should reflect the vision of a market opportunity and serve as a blueprint for the future development of the business and includes various elements.
Innovative Products on Agro-and Marine Industry– It welcomes research-based innovation on how a product from agro-and marine industry can be developed or an innovation on the method, tools and process of its development. It may include the development of products, such as (but not limited to) food crops, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, plantation, forestry and marine which are unique and creative, so that they have added values for the market.
Online Store Design– It welcomes proposals on creative communication and design of online business. The proposals should highlight creative website design and redefine the way people may use it to sell online. Additionally, the design should allow users to set up an online store and manage its marketing, sales, and operations.
Eligibility Requirements
Participants are active undergraduate students from a university/college in Indonesia or abroad.
The submission can be an individual or in a team of maximum three students.
The submission must be the sole and original work of the team members. Any indications of plagiarism will cause the team disqualified from the competition.
